Continuing in my talent for drawing Octopi, here's the latest addition to the Portfolio.
This graphic was surprisingly fast to make. I was really impressed with how it turned out. It's always nice when the client likes your first sketch. They only wanted me to add some stuff to the bottom, which turned out to be an excellent suggestion. Thanks a lot, People of Exact Science.

i just got a box of these shirts in the mail the other day. The Printing was amazing. Really awesome work.

A few months ago I received a Black Sketchbook from a friend of mine. Now, I think I have about 20 or 30 sketchbooks already, and almost all of them are about 40% full. No matter how small they are, somehow I can never get to the last page of any of them. What's the deal with that?????
So, when I got this new one, I decided that I would make a mission out of finishing it at soon as possible. I wasn't going to concern myself with how well every sketch was done, just so long as the book was finished. On top of that, I added another rule. I would use the same pen for the whole book. My pen of choice: a Pentel Brush Pen. -i would like to them, but i can't find them online.

anyways..... without further ado, Here's the meager beginning page of the sketchbook. Look for better pages coming soon.

Monkey Man

Dang, I wish i could do that. Ever since i was a kid I've wanted to swing from the trees. When I was a kid, I used to repel down from the high branches. It smarted something fierce when the branches broke (and the cradle did fall).

This guy has taken the art of climbing to a new level. He's bested the monkeys at their own games, like Tarzan or Kintarou.(Check out 0:30-0:40. WTF? Who taught him that trick??) Dang, I wish that Rousseau was right, that man is a noble savage. There's something magical about those Lost Boy stories. They always draw me in.

Illustration Friday:Early

In an attempt to have more fun with my illustration, and do something other than t shirt designs all day, I thought, "You know, Stephe, you should start doing some of these online call for entries. Live a little."

So, here's the first attempt. It's for Illustration Friday. They pick a word every week, and everyone has to illustrate the word before the next Friday comes. This weeks word was:EARLY.

My friend Janie sent me this post about a Floridian Feral Child named Danielle. Police rescued her from a filth ridden excuse for a shack where she lived a life of neglect. She was so feral that she wouldn't make eye contact, didn't react to heat or cold or pain, wouldn't vocalize, and didn't understand the concept of nodding "yes" or "no".
It's an amazing story that I couldn't stop reading. I drew this sketch soon after reading the story.

Weak Meat Strong Eat

Here's another design I just cranked out for Fumanchu. I always wanted to have a reason to do this kind of Japanese tattoo looking stuff. I'm glad I got the chance.
I've started doing my sketches in photoshop, for i find it easier to keep track of my chaotic sketches when I can change colors and densities so easily. My pencil and pen sketches become such a mess of discussion that usually I can't figure out what I was trying to say.
